Hi, I am Clare the founder of The Happy Hound. I was given the idea to start up my own pet care service by my very own four legged pups, Toby and Teddy; Toby is a 9 year old chocolate Labrador and Teddy is a 7 year old Jack Russell/Pug!. My world revolves around them, which is why I want to share my love and passion for both of them with a wider community of dogs in my local area. The boys absolutely love having their friends come and play, whether it be for a walk, daycare or overnight stay!!
Your dog will receive a warm, caring and loving home from home experience, where their needs are my priority.
I am comfortable walking dogs of all shapes and sizes, and have hands on experience from volunteering at Dogs Trust with dogs of not just all shapes and sizes but also dogs who were unsocialised with a history of difficult upbringings. The experience has taught me how to truly connect with dogs who find it very difficult to show love and affection to both humans and dogs alike. It has also taught me that patience is paramount when managing these dogs.
In my eyes every dog is special, and therefore I like to tailor my services to fit the needs of each individual, so their likes/dislikes, behavioural patterns and any medical needs are taken into consideration when under the care of The Happy Hound. Every dog deserves to be loved away from home, and at The Happy Hound they get just that!
Toby is my little chocolate brownie who does not have a bad bone in him. He is my cuddly bear with a big heart and it amazes me the understanding he has of every situation he is presented with. He is calm and level headed yet absolutely loves a good play. Sadly he was diagnosed with Elbow Displasia at a very early age and in November 2014 had both elbows operated on at the Royal Veterinary College. But now following many hours of rehabilitation with hydrotherapy and acupuncture at the wonderful Greyfriars Rehabilitation Centre in addition to the ongoing care he receives at Twickenham Vets, he is happy and playful out in the park meeting and greeting his friends with his little brother at his side, and of course giving them all lots of kisses!
Teddy my younger one, is a little cheeky monkey, who is black and tan with white socks and a white fleck on the back of his neck. From the moment he arrived as an 8 week old pup, he asserted himself, biting Toby’s tail and ears and even managed to climb into Toby’s food bowl to polish off the rest! How very lucky he is to have a brother who is EXTREMELY patient with him. Teddy loves to have a good old rough and tumble whether it be with Toby, his girlfriend Tilly the pug or just his friends from the park. However at the end of the day he always welcomes kisses and cuddles on the sofa.
